I've only grown onions once before a couple of years ago, and most of the searches I've done say to wait until the leaves have all fallen over and turned yellow. My mil dug some up last week and has been telling me they are done and I need to dig them up so we/she can start using them.

These photos were taken today & that is my size 7 shoe beside them for reference.

Most of the onions are still upright, a few are leaning, and a few have fallen completely over. Most of the bulbs are visible and a good size, but some are still tiny. If they are ready to harvest, do I leave those in the ground or just pull them & use them or toss them?
