Oh, _that_ solstice. (Copra. Grumble.)

So I ordered Copra onion plants in anticipation of a new garden space, and then the space was delayed and delayed and delayed, and we finally got access to it a week ago. So I planted the plants, without really thinking about the date, only about whether they were still viable. They all sprouted little green leaves. Yay. Except:

The summer solstice is, well, right about now. Am I right that my barely-broke-dormancy onion plants are going to start bulbing immediately and I will get itty bitty pearl/spring onions, if that much? Will those bitty onions be worth eating? Will they be worth saving - could they produce scallions if I dry them and plop them in the ground in late summer?

This is a new, larger, garden space and we're still getting a handle on it, so I don't need the space that they're in. But I don't want to water and weed the onion space for no reason at all, either.
