I can't say i've ever heard that or can think of any reason why it wouldn't work.
I suppose that the difficulty may be the timing. Corn gets seeded while garlic is still growing and often doesn't finish up before the garlic needs to be planted.

Maybe someone else can think of another reason.

I think you're right.. Aren't they also both heavy feeders?

Thanks Mark and mav. It must not be much of a problem, otherwise someone would have chimed in. If I ever figure out where or what I read about it, I will post again.

Where I live, I can probably grow corn after garlic. I mean, I think I can plant corn right now.

I've never heard of it but both are definitely heavy feeders. I've never been able to plant enough garlic to need the space I'd give to a block of corn but I imagine that you'd really need to amend the soil to get a good crop of either one following the other. (right now, my garlic is about to come out and the corn down the street is at 3 feet tall so I agree with Mark that the timing wouldn't be good at all.
