Please help, onion problems

I have 2 rows of onions planted.. I noticed something going on with the walla walla and Big Daddy's not real long have I had planted them. It has now spread through the first row and started on the second.. I am sure I am going to lose them all, over 200 onions.. These were bought from a very respectable onion farm off the internet.. I gave some of them to friends and family when I first got them and they too are having the same problem.. Can someone please tell me what is happening.. This is a first year garden nothing had been planted in it before.. My worst fear is it is a blight.. If it is, can it spread through the whole garden? If it is a blight can anything be planted in those rows next year.. Help please!!

I've got this too on Ailsa Craig (worst) and Copra onions. I'm going to treat with fungicide (Maneb) tonight and hope for the best.

I contacted them and all they said was it look likes a fungus.. Good grief I was able to figure this out myself..I truly think it is purple spot (Leaf Blight) Besides the fact that I know I am going to lose all my onions, I cant get an answer on if the fungus will be in the soil. I was hoping once I take them out, I could use the space this fall but I just cant seem to find out the answer..
