No worries, many garlic growers wash their bulbs when harvested, so getting wet will not hurt them so long as you get them dry and start curing.

Don't cut off the foliage until it is completely dry and cured. Just place them in a place out of the sun with good air circulation until cured. I hang mine under my patio roof, although inside a shed with open windows works well. Outdoors would be better from an air circulation standpoint, but indoors will work.

I must say that washing the dirt off the garlic roots certainly does make for a nicer presentation! It is generally very dry here when I harvest, but this year's crazy late rains caused me to harvest when the soil was dripping. The garlics themselves dripped when turned up-side down, in fact.

Did not wash most of the first half I harvested, then started and I can clearly see the value of a good wash before setting them out to cure.
