When to harvest garlic?

Hi. This is the first year I've grown garlic and I'm not sure when it's ready to be dug up. Here's some current pictures of my garlic:

Yeah, I know it needs to be weeded, but I keep thinking that'll be easy once I harvest the garlic. I've read here that you should wait until half of the leaves are brown. Is that completely brown and laying on the ground, brown and still standing, or just partially brown? Are the leaves in the picture brown enough? Let me know what you think. Thanks.

Mike, from what I can see there you still have some time before you dig the up. The plant has at least seven leaves on it. You want to have 4 good green leaves left on the plant when you dig them. Each leaf is a layer of wrapper and you want at least four of them to protect the bulb.

when you have three completely dead lower leaves and four green ones up top you better think about digging them soon...a few hot days can make a difference in how many layers are left.
