How to identify Russian Red vs Music variety of garlic

I planted Russian Red and Music varieties. I kept them separate but now they both look the same. Is there an easy way to identify the two? I tried googling but nothing came up.

Hello Gary. If you've left the scapes on, the easiest way to differentiate them will be the bulbils, the music will have many small ones and the RR's will be larger and fewer. That latter will also be a smaller stockier plant than the music. There are many good sites that give descriptions of the different varieties - garlicana, gourmet garlic gardens & heirloom garlic archive to name a few

Here is a link that might be useful: Heirloom garlic archive

Keeping the two type separate allows you to compare the groups as they stood in the garden and that should be enough to show the differences in the growth habit.
