Early Garlic Harvest

Hi, We grow French Music, a hard neck variety and have very good results. This year though, with the very high temperatures AND lots of rain the garlic was ready for harvest (20% of the plant was brown) the last week of June. That's almost a month early? However, I harvested as one previous year I didn't and the results weren't good. I've found that planting in mid to late October works best here (SE Ohio zone 6 I believe) but how to keep the garlic viable for 4 months? I guess I'll put it in the root cellar and hope for the best. My alternate storage space is in my "pole barn" which is a building totally enclosed with metal, a.k.a. oven. Considering planting earlier this year due to the early harvest.

I know that onion sets and other allium kritters wait all winter to be planted so perhaps I'm concerned about nothing. Any suggestions?

Thanks for your time.
