Thanks Planatus, was ready to harvest when the sun came out. Going to give them a few more days. Also busy dealing with green beans (blue lake bush) which had been beaten down. Discovered my new favorite way to pick beans, just pull out the plant and pick. I think that will be the way to go, picking beans with a bad shoulder, knee, and elbow is very challenging. Bean seed is cheap, let them get the way we want them-Bingo! I'm sure the "green bean police" will be after me...:-)

The next challenge will be tomato blight in the San Marzanos. At least the garlic (French Music) is drying in the barn. Interesting that it was harvested a month early, just like last year?

Go figure, but my Music was right on schedule. Most of the bulb onions are early, though, and very large.

In one small way I'm ready for the rain. Both of my late tomatoes have late blight resistance -- Plum Dandy from NC State and West Virginia '63. If the others melt down, I hope to have a few survivors.

The Music is weird, for 9 years I'd plant the second or third week of October and harvest in mid July. Last year and this year planted at the same time and had to harvest in mid June. We haven't had "winter" in several years so perhaps that's it.

THe Marzano's aren't particuarly blight resistant, but we're addicted to them. Other than one "slicer" in the garden and a cherry in a planter on the front porch, they're the only tomato we grow. Well, will keep snipping leaves (dipping clippers in a storng bleach solution) and spraying and should get enough to turn into sauce and freeze.
