stepping on onion tops

| An older gentleman told me to step on my onions next season and they will grow better. He said his father always did that. Has anyone done this? Does it help or hinder their growth? |

Thats an old wives tail . Do not bend the tops down unless the onions are mature and you want them to cure them for storage. Bending the tops STOPS the onions growth. YOPPER |

| Ok Tom I'll fess up. Last year when I used the back hoe to get them onions out of the ground I was digging out the candy and wasn't watching too close I run over one of them dang ACE and you know their kinda pointy on top and I blowed out the front tire on the back hoe !!Now to get back to reality my onions are still green and standing strait up and growing. Some real biguns. GOOD GARDENING TO YA YOPPER |

| yopper, bet that tire cost plenty! pulled copra and candy. red wing still standing tall but i suspect in a few days they'll start falling. harvest is ok, better than i expected what with no sun and way way too much rain all during the growing season. i wonder if there's enough time to drive over the red wings? ;^) tom |
