perennial, 18 in leaves long thin slightly curled, 3 foot thickish stalk with small allium like flower, the bud is best described as a sperm cell swimming downward, have a pic but can't post it, allium, giant onion, leek???

| Sounds like a hardneck or a wild garlic--the flower is/is atop the scape/stem. You would need to see the bulb, if a single or multi-cloved. I just ran into some wild garlic (assumed) and it had a small underground bulb, flat leaves, and scape/flower pod. That sperm cell you referred to opens and had many tiny flowers or bulbils. Softnecks don't send up a central stem (scape) like hardnecks, their habit is a little more like onions with leaves but no real stem. |
