Martha, I believe a closed in space like that is not the optimum for curing the bulbs. Maybe you have a carport or garage something like that that you could group them in a bundle of 5-10 and hang them for a couple weeks until the outer 2-3 wrapper layers are dry. From there Mine get the roots and tops cut and go onto a screen bottomed rack with a small fan giving some air circulation.

Last year I had some seed bulbs dehydrate on me, that was an expensive mistake I'll never make again.

All this is just my opinion and others have different ways of curing there bulbs...this method is not carved in stone

If I may suggest and couple different softnecks that have a longer shelf life, Thermadrone, Lorz and a couple silver skins Nootka Rose, Silver Rose and Sicilian Silver are all good and store a long time

tHANKS FOR the info...I was told I could not grow soft necks in my zone.....5a Canada...ground freezes, gets very cold in winter...But if I can I will look for some. I understand that sending seeds in the mail between Canada and the USA is a no no...(althought I have sent tomato seeds to the US)....I also think I have pulled some too soon..they don't have any darker skins on them, some earth then very white...I have hung them (only about 7) in a closit in my cool basement..will open he door in the evening so they get some more air..hope this works...my shed is way to muggy..again thanks...MarthaZucchini
