I planted shallots last fall and dug them up today. Something I didn't know about shallots is that they have flowers. I finally learned about various stages garlic goes through. Instead of bulbils, shallots have seeds. Are they somewhat similar to ornamental onion. I have saved the seeds. If I start them indoors in early spring what will I get in late summer? Mostly, I want to know how many stages shallots go through until they become shallots. Do I need to save seeds from every crop? Liliana
