I'm reposting this from the Vegetable forum hoping to get some more responses from some experts.

How do you replant shallots?

This past spring was my first year growing shallots. I planted them in March and harvested in July. Now IÂm not sure what to do with ones I have (besides eating them).

How do they compare to (re)planting garlic?

For me, in Northern VA, I (re)plant the largest garlic cloves in October, and harvest them in June. Does it work the same way for shallots?

1) Do I plant the biggest bulbs I have or the smallest? (I thought I read somewhere that you should plant the smallest ones, and eat the largest).

2) Do I plant in October or do I wait until the spring?

3) Or can I plant in both the spring and the fall?
