Where to Grow My Garlic/onions

the_pumpkin_queen

I live in Arkansas, zone 7, and was wondering where to sow my onions and the wee bit of garlic I have. I have a patch of ground, next to our storage shed that is very shadey and wondered if I could plant and successfully grow my onions there. Or if they needed to be in more sun. I also have one spot on the side of the house that is full sun. Or am I going to have to do some rearranging? :P

I have I'itoi (thanks to twosunsaz)

Rakkyo (thanks to GardenLad)

Multiplying Onions

Egyptian Walking onions

And will these cross with each other?

I also want to sow some seeds for Walla Walla Sweet and Nebuka Bunching.

Any advice will be greatly appriciated!

Those you listed divide to propagate themselves. No crossing. The last two can't cross if you don't let both varities go to seed at the same time. (and your near-by neighbors arn't raiseing onions for seed at the same time)

Thanks for the info CoCo! I doubt any of my close neighbors grow anything but flowers :) We do have a lady about a block away that has a garden but chances of her pollen getting my way are probably slim!
Just to be sure I will probably keep those two away from eachother though.
