Did you leave your garlic in the ground after it went dormant last fall or winter? If so, you are now getting second growth. Single plant one year with a divided bulb. Second year, each clove begins growing as a separate plant. If that is the case, you now will have some great garlic scallions shortly.

No I planted this autumn but it was not garlic seed bulb but from bought garlic...sold as australian garlic...not sure if hardneck or softneck..I think the latter..but looks so odd compared to my other garlics..but many thanks for your reply and advice and help, Danny

If you planted the central "core" clove of a softneck garlic variety, that will often give multiple plants. I did that several years ago to see what would happen. All produced at least 3 plants.

ok no I didn't do that ..it looks like mutant or throw back to me...going quite bushy at the top with several new separate shoots...will just leave and see what happens but my other garlic is not doing this at all..thanks heaps for your help and time, Danny
