 o
tops not dying

So last year all of my onions had topped down and were cured by the end of august. This year, they have all bulbed nicely, but the tops are still green and standing up straight. Is it ok to leave them in the ground longer or should i bend the tops down and pull them up and dry/cure them in the basement?

My concern is that we are solid in to the rainy season with no end in sight. I am worried about them rotting. I have put the plastic tent over them which keeps 90% of the rain off and the soil has dried somewhat....

thanks all!

ohh and they are long day storage varieties:red bull and copra. started from seed back in February.
