Bulbils for Green Garlic?

UncleJohn

I was reading about green garlic, and it occured to me that the hundreds of tiny bulbils I have (the wheat sized ones I have are Purple Glazer and Chesnock Red) might be well suited to grow green garlic. My thinking is that I can sow them 1" apart in all directions, and harvest every other, or even 2/3 as green garlic, letting the rest produce rounds for stock for 2007 season. Does this seem reasonable?

I had better luck than I had realized with the larger style bulbils (a local Rocambole and Spanish Roja), getting some medium bulbs as well as some rounds from a lateish spring planting this year. So I am going to treat the large bulbils with respect this year, and plant them 3" apart in the next week or two.
