| My red candy were very disapointing they were very small compared to my regular candy and had very little dry skin covering and started to rot while they were curing out. How were yours??? YOPPER |

smaller, but they are keeping so far. The plants I received were very small to my standards. The largest ones I got were about 3.5-4 inches across. I lost a few right after digging, but that's normal. I have noticed that my onions on the average are experiencing more losses in storage this year. Maybe the unusual wet and cool summer? They grew well though. |

| ====> My red candy were very disapointing they were very small compared to my regular candy so yopper i take it that they were so small you did not need to use the excavator to dig them? must be strange to put 4 onions in the wheel barrow all at once rather than just one at a time? ;^) how's the weather in the up, 3' or 4' of snow? :O i had 1.5" a week ago which is really early for snow. i had rotting problems with mars for a few years at all stages - growing in the garden, curing and in storage. the other 2 varieties had no problems those same years. i switched to red wing a couple of years ago and i've had no problems at all plus they store longer than mars did. i liked mars but i was losing too many onions to rotting. i also stopped growing ailsa craig exhibition because about about 15-20% would grow a double bulb. the doubles did not store well and would be prone to going bad. tom |
