what kind of garlic?

Chubasco

I planted some store bought garlic last year. I assumed it was Calif. white, from what I subsequently read here. I did it as an experiment. It over wintered well and even put up green leaves through the 3+inches of straw mulch. I harvested it this summer, braided and cured it. I was quite impressed as we use garlic in most cooking. I went back and bought some more and having read this forum a lot tried to find out what type it is. I had noticed that what I had planted last year had put up scapes which I cut and used. Also that unlike the descriptions given on calif. white this garlic had only one layer of cloves around a central woody stalk. Those I bought and planted this month are the same. They are a product of China. Bulbs are 1 1/2 to 2+ in. in diameter, somewhat flattened with white wrappers and cloves. Again a single row of 6 to 10 cloves around a single woody stalk.

Any of you experts care to venture a guess as to what my garlic is? Thanks Brent
