Honestly I don't know. Being a long day grower myself I never had reason to look at what is available. I checked out Dixondale farms where I get a lot of onions and all their short day varieties are sweet and short storage.

Hopefully there is something though.

I have been confused about long vs short day onions. I live in the Ozarks and wonder if someone would get me lined out on why and which type is correct for my climate? Thanks

You live in a funny area as far as onions are concerned. Generally the 35th parallel is the dividing line. North of the 37th parallel is for long day, south of the 35th is short day and inbetween is for intermediate or day length neutral varieties.

Hopefully someone from your area or at least parallel can chime in with the voice of experience, but I honestly don't know what to recommend in your case.

Try these. Ozarks should be able to grow Short, Intermediate and day neutral.

Check out www.ctahr.hawaii.edu/seed/seeds.asp They sell seed for an op pungent short day storage onion. It resembles "creole red" from the photo. You have to print out the order form. Seed quantities are small per packet but postage is included. I will be trying this variety out soon. Summer in my zone is cooler than winter in Hawaii!

Try this one. I have been pleased with other Italian onions.
