Hi, new to growing garlic.

Please bare with me!

I live in zone 5 can anyone recommend some varieties to plant? I was looking at the Filaree Farms site and there are still some varieties available. Late start I know, no one here has any left, plus was a small selection. We planted Polish pink last year and

a Russian white, both did poorly. I'm thinking the soil wasn't loose enough and we didn't remove the bulbils, if that is the correct term! I liked the flavor of both, but all I ever ate was store bought before last year so both growing and taste are new to me. I was thinking of trying Russian Red, and Spanish Roja. I don't want a real hot variety. Will either of those do well in Ohio?
