Getting onions to flower in first year...?

Had a couple onions that I was trying to store start to bolt in storage already... If I plant these onions in soil under grow lights, will it continue to set a flower???

Seems like you could harvest an onion in early summer, cure it, store it in the fridge for a couple weeks, replant it, and get it to flower and harvest seeds in the first year...

Sure, you can force an onion to flower if you want. Keep in mind though that to get good quality seeds from onions you should have at least 20 plants to cross pollinate.
Seems like a lot of work to me though, onion seeds are pretty cheap.

Hmmm... Didnt think about cross-pollination. And trust me...it's not too much work. :-) More of the satisfaction of going seed to seed than saving the .99 for seeds. :-) Thanks for the insight.
