Elephant Garlic sprouting in the Fall??

| I got some small EG plants from a friend & put them in this pot in the Spring. Well, the tops of them died off & this pot has had some clover growing in it for the past 2 months or so, which I left in there cuz I thought i looked cool. =) I noticed this past weekend that 4-5 very healthy garlic looking sprouts had popped up from it! =) So, I yanked out the clover. Are these Elephant Garlic sprouts & if so, are they supposed to come up in the Fall? I've never grown garlic before, so I don't know. Any & all help appreciated. Thanks! - Steve

| I would say those are your elephant garlic sprouting. It seems a bit early for this area but your climate may vary. Sprouting in the cool, moist fall is normal, but I wouldn't have expected them to have leafed up that high. Maybe they're trying to reach for sunlight over the top of that pot they're in. |

| Ok, thanks. I doubt their trying too hard to reach for sunlight. That side of my house gets it pretty much all day. |
