Effect of Separating garlic cloves early

I've been saving the largest cloves from each bulb to plant for next season and just read it's best to leave the cloves wrapped until planting. They are all Italian Purple.

Some of the cloves have been unwrapped since August so what's been your experience planting cloves such as these ?

The cloves will loose some moisture being taken apart from the bulbs for that long before. It isn't good for them but not the end of the world either. get'em in the ground and water well. They'll grow.
