Looks good except I would not try to squeeze 18 plants into 72". That's less than 4" spacing. Music and Siberian should produce big bulbs over 3". If they got to proper size, they would almost be touching each other at maturity. That won't happen. I think that size is being sacrificed for quantity. From experience, 6" minimum spacing would have been better for those 2.

The rows are "about" 6', a little over, but not 7'. The Music and Siberian are spaced at 5-6", but could probably use more room than that. Tried to space the others at 4". Rows about 10" apart.

That sounds a lot better for the Music and Siberian. There simply isn't a "generic" spacing that fits all unless one went with 8". Then both the largest and smallest varieties could perform about at their maximum.

I'm pretty new to this, and tried to stay around 4" for everything last year. Had a generally disappointing crop so far as bulb sizes too. I did increase some (probably not enough) this year for the Music and Siberian. Live and learn. If it looks puny this year I'll increase spacing next time. The only drawback is weed control. If too wide apart there's more sunlight to encourage weeds. Mulch helps, but doesn't give total control. Thanks for your comments.

Martin is right on with spaceing. I have more room than many and don't yet use raised beds. I have long since gone to 8" spaceing in the row for both garlic and onions. Shallots are usually 10 to 12".
