Is there a 'Sweetish' multiplier onion for eating raw & pickling?

I would like to start a new allium bed. This bed will have to be much smaller than my old one.

I already have a really good shallot for cooking with. I was wondering if there was a "multiplying" type onion that is not very strong?

My mother used to pickle these onions that were about 1-inch in diameter. They were the most delicious little onions! We enjoyed them raw, cut-up and sprinkled liberally over good-ole Louisiana "Red Beans & Rice". Or, we'd eat jar after jar of them pickled!

I have no idea if they were a full-sized onion pulled early or, if they were a small variety. The memory of us having them year-round makes me think they were probably "multipliers".

Seems like I'm always wishing I wouldda paid more attention to our old "farmer" ways.
