What to do with sprouting seed onions?

Posted by infiniteohms 5 Me (My Page) on

Hello,
I just got some little Egyptian walking onions in a trade, but when they got to me they had already sprouted. What do i do? I cant plant them outside, but i doubt they would keep till spring under normal conditions, i put them in the fridge for now, but will they last like that till spring? I suppose i could plant them in pots till after the first frost, but that would really impinge on my window and cold frame space. Thanks for any advice you can give.

I admit I don't know much about Egyptian walking onions but I had 4 different species of onions last year that went through 3 major freezes and they seem to like it and thrived quite well.
