Sprouting seeds of A. shubertii

I have attempted to sow seeds of Allium schubertii several times but with no success each time. This time I did not scarify the seed. Do I need to. I have tried that in the past and didn't have any luck then either.
I really love this plant. The huge irregular globe is "out of world". Sort of reminds me of Sputnic or something else from an old space movie. The seed do look good but there must be a trick to getting them to germinate.

Oh my bad. I meant to say stratify not scarify. I meant was "Do the seed have to go through a moist chilling period before they germinate?" Sorry about that folks. Leon
