starting a small, small rock garden

Hello Helpful Members!

I work at a garden center and I just bought some primrose because it is so beautiful and in bloom. I live in a small apartment,; however, I can landscape the area in front of my door. I already have the main area laid our for annuals, such as pansies; but, there is an area that gets part sun-part shade that I want to put the primrose (variety Arctic Ice). Someone recommended a rock garden, but it is a very small area. And I mean small- maybe 3 ft by 3 ft. Is this pointless?

There are people with "rock gardens" in 6 inch pots, so no, I don't think it's pointless if it's something you want to do!

But why a rock garden? Do you just like rocks, are is there a particular type of plant you want to grow there?

There is a brand of plants called Stepables that I love and I want to use them. Hundreds of varieties.

I almost bought some 'stepables' this weekend... they had 2 or 3 varieties of sedum I hadn't seen before. But I need to plant what I already have before I buy more plants...
