| Hello, everyone
I started some saxifrage arendsii 'Trio mix' from seed. Most have two true leaves now. They are growing in 50% seed starting mix and 50% sand.
If anyone has any experience with these (mossy?) saxifrages, I would appreciate hearing what I should do now.
Thanks,
Bob |

| When they get a few more leaves, plant them out in the garden. You really have to have a lot of grit and gravel in the dirt when you plant them out-they need incredibly well drained soil. And I think part shade will do better with your young plants. |

Thanks for the information. They have a couple more leaves now and look like they are doing pretty well. I will let the soil dry out a little more between waterings, since the soil is very moisture retentive. Bob |

| Hi, I wouldn't let them dry out too much, they don't like that as seedlings or adults (you get horrible dead brown centres) mark |

| I grew saxiphrage arendsii for quite a few years in a rock garden. It was on the northeast face between fairly large sandstone slabs and spread beautifully over them. It seems to need winter cover with something like evergreen boughs. Mine finally died out completely this year after grasshoppers ate everything in my large yard. Luckily I had shared it with a friend in another part of the state, so now I have a new little plant from her. The lesson is share your plants! Laurie |
