Rock Gardens in north Alabama?

Does anyone have experience with rock gardening in this area? I will be right on the border between zones 7 and 8. Will sempervivums survive that warm a climate? TIA

RE: Rock Gardens in north Alabama?

There are nine members of the North American Rock Garden Society in Alabama. D.D. Martin has his garden listed as open to NARGS members only. "Mine is a 3-4 acre rural yard set in the middle of cotton fields. I have a number of beds and collections including: woodland natives, troughs, dianthus, hellebores, cyclamen, bulbs, and a perennial border. "
