Dianthus 'Tiny Rubies'

I just purchased a 6" pot of Dianthus 'Tiny Rubies' one month ago from Home Depot when it was in bloom, very pretty. I was told that it can stay in a pot, then repotted in a bigger one next year if needed. I live a condominium and can only do balcony gardening. But now that the blooming time has finished for it, the foliage, which is grass-like looks like it's dying. It is turning yellow. I noticed that when I water it (once a week), the water flows immediately out of the pot. Is it dying, or is this normally how the plant dies down for the season, and will it come back next year? Any help or advice anyone can give me real soon sure will be appreciated. Thanks.

The first thing I would do, Rozzy, is to dunk the whole thing in a bucket of warm water until all the bubbles quit coming out of the soil! Sounds like the soil as become too dry, and sometimes it is difficult to get it re-hydrated.
Then, allow your plant to drain completely.
Hopefully this will get it back on track.
