Very nice. Erinus alpinus is one of my very favorites!!

Is the top pot clay? If so I'm just curious as to how you over winter it?

Thanks

RE: cool Pics

Actually, that one is just plastic. I wouldn't recommend it with that large a pot because of the alpine soil used - mineral based and heavy. The plastic won't break, but it is relatively flimsy so if you're not careful the soil (and roots) are jostled when moving about, like squeezing a balloon.

All my potted material, whether in plastic, clay, hypertufa , styrofoam troughs or milk cartons are put into a hardware cloth covered wood box frame for the winter. Easy to keep out rodents that way. Should you desire more info on my method Click here. The one thing I should add is I do not water the material prior to covering. In an enclosed environment with no air circulation, mold would not be a good thing.
