Rock garden or something else for this space?

I am trying to get some ideas for this rather narrow pathway on the side of our house. We are in the process of moving the driveway currently in back of our house (you can see a car parked there in one photo) and returning the back of our house to a natural backyard. A raised bed would be difficult because of the utilities that come in at various parts of that wall though we love fieldstone walls and raised beds. However we cannot cover up the utilities nor raise the soil level too high in other cases because of carbon monoxide vents that need to be a certain height from the ground.

This part of the garden gets a lot of sun in the morning and less so in the afternoon because of the bordering trees. This is an old colonial style house and we'd like to stay in a rather English informal country style and use native & low maintenance plants as much as possible.

Any advice would not fall on deaf ears. Thanks.

RE: Rock garden or something else for this space?

for the first pic i would say to just get some sedums and some hen and chicks plants and place them in between the rocks and crevices. and you already have a few sedums growing in that space that look like they are doing well i would also pull up a lot of that mint or catnip or whatever it is. I'm not an expert on these things but it doesn't seem like you are getting much help so i thought i would post and try to help =]
