Tip for growing Delosperma successfully

Important tips to successfully grow Delosperma nubigenum (a hardy succulent groundcover with daisy-like flowers)

- Soil must be very nutrient poor and lean, with mostly sand, grit, and some topsoil is ok

- Soil must be very well drained. A good spot for the plant is between large rocks and gravel, upper areas of rock gardens, raised beds

- Plant must NOT EVER be fertilized

- Water very sparingly, allow to dry out briefly between waterings

- Plant must have full sun (as much hot sun as possible for as long as possible)

- This plant will grow poorly and be improperly formed if there are too many nutrients/any fertilizer, too much water, too much shade, bad drainage, etc. Those are common mistakes which lead to the plant growing extremely rapidly, with long thin stems, large oblong leaves, and flowering poorly.

The proper appearance of this plant is to have short, fat leaves that are densely crowded and somewhat pointing upwards. It should be a nice tight mat of small leaves. If it's loose, lanky, has long leaves, etc you are committing some of the errors listed above

Hope these tips help
