winter edelweiss help...

AnnaLeah

Last spring I bought four edelweiss plants and they bloomed over this past summer and are doing well..my concern is winter temps are among us here in the midwest and I have read that I need to cover my plants for the winter so they don't die. Is this true? And if so..what do I cover them with and do I need to continue to water regularly over the winter? Thanks!

Covering them is absolutely bizarre advice! Edelweiss are alpine plants that are adapted to winter temperatures as cold and colder than any "polar vortex" might bring to your area. If they don't survive your conditions, it will be much more likely due to poor drainage, come the inevitable melt.
