I would transplant them to a 12" pot to make sure there's room for the offsets to grow and mature. Sounds like you have a nice klister in the works!

Hi Kristi, what s a klister? Should I remove them from the mother bulb and plant separately or move whole lot into a bigger pot? Husband out of hospital but very weak. photo next time. Best wishes. Jacqui

A klister is the mother bulb surrounded by offsets. I wouldn't remove them unless you want to make 3 pots and grow them on their own. They should do fine in the pot with mom and what would be prettier than 3 bulbs all with blooms.

Hi Kristi, thanks for your kind message. Husband home but not quite up to doing work for me on the net, however it might be an interesting challenge for him! So, should I still transfer mother bulb and babies to an even bigger pot? 1 big bud, 4incheshigh and another possible coming. WILL send photo. Also when should I repot? Dear Jacqui, if it were me...I'd just lift the bulb (roots and all) out of your 8" pot and add some soil to a 12" pot and set the pot-shaped root mass and bulbs on top of that soil...then fill in around the edges. You will have disturbed the roots very little and the bulbs can continue to grow merrily in a larger pot. OF COURSE, you can wait until they bloom too, but I find it easier to deal with repotting when there aren't leaves involved.

I just got an H. Papilio bulb and it is already sending up leaves from 2 offsets too! Sounds like it's prolific like your bulb.

Great photo Jacqui! That bulb has grown huge!! You might wait until it's done blooming to repot. I'd hate for one of the scapes to accidentally break while you are handling it!!
