Experimental Bulb Surgery

I bought a H. 'Lima' this year, and I just noticed that it had developed some rot. The rot was more extensive in a couple of the inner layers, but the outer layers were not extensively afflicted. This has happened to other bulbs of mine in the past, and I have always removed healthy outer layers to get to the rot. This time I am trying something different. With a razor blade, I made vertical cuts through the outer layers so I could splay apart the healthy parts and remove the rotten layers. I then washed it all with dilute Hydrogen peroxide and dusted with Captan before re-rooting it in perlite. My expectation is that these splayed outer layers will be able to export their nutrients to fuel leaf growth, so this will not be as drastic of a loss to the plant as if I had simply removed the layers. My next message will show the final result.
