Do you think this is H. striatum

Hello Hippeastrum fans,

Hey, I was wondering if you could take a look at the pics below and let me know if you think this plant is H. striatum? A friend had been growing a plant for 30-something years from a division from her grandmother's plant and never really knew what it was other than an "amaryllis". She sent out some seeds and this is the result. It looks identical to her plant, and to other plants some other friends grew from her seed. I think it's striatum, but I'd love to hear what you think.

It's outside year round on my south facing covered patio. I've also planted some in the ground on the east side of my house and they've done really well. This thing makes bulblets/offsets like no one's business, actually breaking a couple of very think terracotta pots in the past. I love its vigor and it's generally evergreen leaves.

I put Wilson the tennis ball in the first pic to show relative size. The other small orange blooms in the foreground are some Cyrtanthus blooms, another favorite of mine that really does well here.

Terrific, thanks for confirming, and for the nice comments. This thing grows like CRAZY. Definitely a favorite of mine for that, and because orange is my favorite color. Thanks again, Josh. Happy gardening all.

OOh, those are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing the pics. I have some that I am raising from seed, and one mature bulb that I hope will bloom for me for the first time this year. Can't wait to see mine bloom after seeing your great pics!

Thanks for looking/commenting. These start blooming pretty young from seed (a couple of my more precious ones started blooming on year three), so you shouldn't have long to wait. Looking forward to pics of your babies, and your blooms too. All the best, Grant.

Maybe Hippeastrum Puniceum. I have one similar and was told that to figure out which old Hip it was by seeing how it makes bulbs.

Hi Grant,

I'm kinda new to this list but an old (fart) hat at growing hippies. I love your Striatum and it looks soooo happy in it's pot. Would you be willing to trade a bulb or so? I have some Vitatum seedlings to trade if you're interested and possibly some San Antonio Rose. Please let me know.

I have loads of H. San Antonio Rose too! Started out with a 1-gallon pot that had 28 bulbs in it and now have 4 or 5 1-gallon pots with dozens of bulbs! I love the red stripe up the back!

I would trade for San Antonio Rose if someone were interested in Black Pearl x papilio seedlings, or maybe amorph konjac tubers,or postage.
