Thought I could force them

I planted five bulbs the middle of December, thinking that if they were in soil, they would come out of dormancy. Well, they just waited until they were good and ready! Three now have scapes and two are still sleeping.

In the future I will wait until I see growth to plant them back up. These are ones I dug out of the yard before the first hard frost so maybe they just needed more resting time.

    I think you did right by planting them. Just think about when you buy a new bulb...usually they are really dormant. As soon as you give them water and sun, a few start to put out growth and blooms, and some will just sit there for a little bit longer before they start to bloom. I don't think that your bulbs are behaving any differently than a typical bulb coming out of dormancy.
