Nope...there can be a delay....

I just aquired one of these that is done blooming but starting to send up new leaf shoots. Will it develop more buds or is it done for the year? I don't know much about them.

It may send up another scape, but there's no guarantee. Depends on size, age, and how it was prepared before you got it.

Since you can't see through the bulb, you'll just need to wait. You'll find that patience is required for growing Hippeastrum! You have to wait to see scapes, then you have to wait to see blooms. Than...after being so patient, you have to wait for next year and start waiting all over again!
