Well Paul, I don't think it's entirely so bad..actually that second picture is quite nice..and with the greenish stripes on the back of the flowers it leads me to believe it may be an Orange Sovereign or a Naranja..both with are supposed to be orange. Of course it could be something else, but I'd enjoy it and you can always try again for a Red Lion..they seem to be everywhere except when you want one!!

If I had simply been looking for a red, any red, it wouldn't have been such a disappointment. But I really had my heart set on the deep, rich red of Red Lion. Kind of like having your mouth set for a good supreme pizza and receiving a plain cheese one instead.

If you really want a knock out dark red, try a Benfica, or a Royal Velvet there are others..it seems to me that lately most of the Red Lions out there are an orangy-red. About 5 years ago, I had a Red Lion that was really red..I don't know what happened to it but try a Benfica..or a Red Pearl or Black Pearl..there are more...

I a lovely rebloom on a Ferrari that was a very nice Christmassy red. I think I have had that bulb for several years so do not know where it is available.

I am actually wildly in love with oranges right now to I think your "Red Lion" is gorgeous!
