Hi Amanda, In my opinion, I wouldn't remove any of the bulblets, it you do at such a small size, they will surely perish. Just plant as usual and it may make it way up to the surface, I've seen this before..chances are good that all the bulblets will manage to grow to sizable bulblets if you leave them alone. Just my opinion, but I had a huge clump of Orange Sovereign a few years ago and there was a larger bulblet attached to the bottom just as yours is. It continued to grow and was fine.

This second picture just shows the size of the clump.. and I had already taken 2 or 3 bulbs off of this and replanted the rest as it is shown. This fall, I finally divided the rest up and every single bulb was fine, (except the mother bulb in which I found an NFB maggot, but caught it in time).

Hi Donna -What a spectacular clump of OS! How long did it take to grow to that size? It must have been quite a sight in bloom.

I'll be glad to leave the bulblet as is (what I'd normally do). Thanks for the suggestions and photos. I occasionally forget how stubborn these guys are about their own survival.
