Could it have frozen while being sent to you? I had many bulbs freeze down into the soil in Late Nov and their leaves turned dark at the base, then the leaves turned yellow and withered. IF the outside of the bulb turns brown and mushy you will need to clean it up and stop the rotting. If it is just the base of the leaf it should be OK. The leaf will die but the bulb should survive.

I've had the first emerging leaf on several bulbs wither on me, but subsequent leaves have been fine...now that's assuming that you don't have a freeze issue or a rot issue as stated above..

Thanks so much for the replies. When I got the bulb shipped to me I checked it out for any soft spots, and did not find any. However, there was only 1 small root. Is this normal when buying bulbs online, as this was my first time. I have only bought them previously at garden shops. I am hoping that more leaves will appear, as the picture for this "Dancing Queen" looked absolutely beautiful.
Is there anything that I should be doing to help it out?

Just be mindful when watering bulbs with no roots, and no leaves, that you only water sparingly one a week at the most. The bulb and basal plate will stay wet for too long without the help of the roots and leaves to drink the water..and yes, it's quite common for bulbs to arrive with few or no roots..hope you enjoy your Dancing Queen, a favorite of everyone..!

WOW...is this Dancing Queen?? This looks wayyyyy better than the picture posted on the website. I can only hope and pray that mine looks half as good as yours! Thank you for the advice about watering, as I did not know this. Will definitely go down and check to make sure that I have not watered it too much. Thanks so much for posting the advice...and of course the gorgeous pic! :)

Sometimes bulbs that were shipped late in season arrive a bit stressed. Dancing Queen is generally a good grower and should bounce back for you with lots of sunlight and good care.
