Blanca, Thanks for your kind words..I must admit I was very pleased that this bulb has such a noticeable picotee..

Anton, Actually I don't know what the difference is if any..I always shied away from buying an picotee of any type as I really don't like the picotee with the line so thin you have to use a magnifying lens to see it! But, this one was at the nursery and it was a big hard bulb so I just took a chance and I was very pleased. You still have to get close to the flowers to see the picotee but it's most definitely there. There is another variety called Picote Red Lining but I've never seen that one offered..

This plant is dripping with pollen and it has fallen all over the place so there may be a few selfings in the future..if anyone is interested...

I think the President Johnson blooms may be larger. I have a couple and they are very strong growers. One is huge! My PJ picotee edge isn't quite so red, but yours looks to be very happy!

Actually, these flowers are quite small 4 & 1/2" it's just that all 8 flowers came out together and they're holding up pretty well, considering there probably aren't any roots and it's a new bulb...I know it will never look this good again..they rarely do when you're lucky enough to have both scapes bloom simultaneously...

I'm just re-posting a couple of pictures that disappeared and I can't figure out why as I didn't move them...those blank pictures with the explanation mark are just awful! Does anyone know how to get rid of them?

You mention the scent on the Blossom Peacock... but I'm wondering about the scent on the Jewel! Next year I plan on buying scented Hipps!

Both Blossom Peacock and Jewel are noticeably scented. And Alfresco and I also found Gervase to have some scent although not as strong as the first three. There are others also..and of course Apple Blossom...Oh and another one I remember from last year that was quite fragrant was Splash..mine has yet to bloom again this year...

your PJ is awesome.
And I agree with you that Jewel has some fragrant flavor.

Next year will be all about the scented hippeastrum! Gervase will definitely be on the wish list... I love the splash petals... you just never know what you'll get!
