Jewel and H papilio could be interesting... you might get form and fragrance in one of the offspring. Gervase are so lovely with their splash petals! -Tina

I have harvested Jewel pollen, but have no Papilio blooms right now!
I put Jewel on everything in hopes for scent. It's an odd bloom... I like true doubles like Alfresco better and it also has fragrance.

I have several Jewel crosses that could bloom this spring with the following seed parents: Red Lion, Lady Diana, and Exotica.

I've had Jewel on my "to buy" list for the past couple years. I finally bought a bulb this year. She is just now opening her first bloom... I was only able to catch the slightest scent from her today. In another couple days she should be fully open, so I'll see what she has in terms of form and scent. Vegas will be opening at the same time... they seem like a bit of an odd couple for breeding though. Vegas is supposed to be scented too... so maybe they could pair up. We'll see!

Most of the scents on hippies come out after the flower has been out fully for a few days and it is kept warm. Some are so fragrant that DH will say what's that flower that I can smell? Jewel will not disappooint you..it's one of the best in terms of fragrance. And, once in a while it will put out a single flower (not for me yet) and in that case you can put a double's pollen on it and then you've got a double on a double to double your chances of ending up with a double!!!..Donna.

Hi Donna! With my first fully opened Jewel blossom and first Vegas blossom, I remembered today that they're both doubles... therefore, they're unlikely to be capable of producing seed pods! I guess I'll have to save the pollen for something that blooms a little later this season.

Vegas has really large blooms. I'm not keen on her partial double form, but the pollen might be nice for attempts at some singles among her progeny. I'll have to see what her scent is like mid-day... not noticing much this evening (same with Jewel). -Tina

Well I guess it's possible that now and then the fragrance doesn't come through..most people said their Sweet Lilian was fragrant, mine wasn't, not even a hint...Donna
