This is additional Pigmentation, caused by UV-irradiation from Unfiltered SunLight.

Good to know. I thought this was a recent happening, so thought there was a new "cause".

I haven't pulled up any bulbs so I'm not sure how they look, but it sounds like its nothing to worry about.

It's gotten down in the 50's that's not that bad. And it's only happening to 2 of my plants.

Oh... There was a story on the news about some boys falling through ice on a pond near Phoenix! Unseasonable there!

Hmmm... If it's only 2 I'd be a little more concerned, or at least note that they are susceptible to this. If Hans-Werner says that it's due to the light...he's a pro, so I don't doubt him. Still odd that you don't see this in the summer when the light would be brighter/stronger, or happening to more of them.
