Yup, Definitely a stressed Flamenco Queen. I just lost mine but last year it was gorgeous..I will most definitly buy another next season..luckily they are readily available..Yours should be much better once it grows some roots and leaves..good luck

I think one of my new bulbs that is obviously mislabeled is a Flamenco Queen....just in time to replace the one I lost!!

Thank you all for your comments. Is it best not to let bulbs that have no roots set seed? I have noticed that the bulb is shrinking and wonder if making seed would affect the size even more?

I do let a bulb that has no roots set seeds..I have a new Charisma currently that has 6 seed pods on it (2 scapes) and 4 of them are huge..It's probably not the best practice, but when you've got new bulbs sometimes you just have to. If the bulb is really tiny then perhaps it would be just too much stress or if you have a very special bulb that you would rather not take a chance with then don't.. but if the bulb is good sized and especially if you only have 1 or 2 pods then I don't see the harm...I'm sure others will have an opinion on this question..listen to everyone...
I also have two viable almost ready seedpods on a rootless Chico..and a couple on a rootless Evergreen...but if you don't feel right about it the don't.

Bulbs in a critical state will rather ABORT their unripe seed pods, than bring them to maturity.

My Flamenco Queen is putting up a third scape. The last blossom on the second scape opened completely with coloration more red like Donna's photo. Only a slight wrinkle in one petal, otherwise perfectly shaped. Hope the blooms on the third scape are nice also.

Today I've been potting up dormant bulbs from last year. After a summer/fall's growth they have long beautiful roots.

Bobbie..So glad your Flamenco Queen's flowers are improving...I'm sure her last scape will be worth the wait. Hope you have some lovely flowers from your newly potted up bulbs too..

The second scape seed pods opened with a majority of seeds filled.
