I'm probably wrong but I thought I just saw these at Home Depot, and they all had 5 or 6 bulblet's growing off of them

I bought a bagged bulb at Walmart last year labeled as red and white. The resulting bloom was very similar. H. Vittatum figures into many of these... It's common and hardy.

I was looking for informations about H.vittatum species , as I am a newbie but I don't find . Do you grow it ?

How do you recognise a vittatum hybrid ?

H.Vittatum appears in many gardens as they are very hardy and prolific. I know from my neighbor's batch that they are NOT resistant to virus!!

They are white with the red/raspberry pencil stripes. They are one of the early Hippeastrum that look a lot like the current hybrids, although they are smaller blooms. The Dutch have developed many large blooms, some with different tepal shapes and colors.

Maybe growing it from seeds I won't have any virus ?

The flower shown is a hybrid with heavy H.Vittattum influence.It is resistant to some viruses,but not all.Growing it from seed will produce virus free plants
